Posted: 8/1/06 - The new album is now in my hands and they look great. Setting up a CD release a party now as well as getting all the Shwag designed or ordered. I also found that we are on Napster too now. How many times do I have to say that CDBaby rocks! They really do. Oh, and continueing on from the last post; yes, I have started writing songs for the new album. Busy busy busy. I'm also considering doing a myspace page. I'm getting constantly asked why I don't have one yet. Sigh. I may have to break down and just do it. I might just create a blank page their and have it link directly back to here.
Posted: 5/3/06 - Got the CD back from mastering and it sounds great. Rick Fischer is genius at mastering by the way. We shot the photo shoot for the booklet and it too turned out excellent. I'm working on finishing all the artwork now. Once that is done, I'll be able to ship it off to manufacturing. Posted: 2/14/06 - I'll be able to get the CD into mastering soon now after I get my tax return. I've also set up photo shoots with Cody for the front cover. Working on getting shows right now too. Posted: 1/9/06 The mixdown is now complete. It sounds fantastic. Yay! On to Mastering. Ellen's violin parts came out great as well as all the additional vocals we've done. We have also added not only Ellen on violin but Travis on guitar too to the band. Two new members! Welcome to both of you! Josh broke his foot but once he is back, we'll be getting ready for some sorely needed playing out. Posted: 11/16/05 - We recorded the last of the parts for the album including violin, more back up singing, and some over dubs. Sounds really good. Can't wait to hear the final mixes. William had also saddly decided to spend more time with his own band so will be leaving us on guitar. Search is on now for his replacement. Posted: 9/16/05 - It took a while, but I am now on iTunes. Pretty cool. Getting another tattoo tomorrow and I'm pretty excited about that too (then I'm off to see Dead Can Dance). Posted: 9/07/05 - Wow, it's been a long time since posting anything here. A lot has happened. First off, we postponed recording at Ironwood and instead went back to record at Avast again. Which is fine, I like it there. Kevin was of course our engineer again. The initial plan was to record 13 songs and release 12 of them on the actual record. We were able to record all the basic tracks for 11 of the songs within 3 days. We still have much more to go though including over half the vocals. We had many guest musicians appear in the studio with us as well. I really want to thank everyone who participated during the last 3 days too for their fantastic performances. :-) We still have at least another couple of days left of recording to do then it's off to mix down. We got some photos too which I'll try to post to let you in on the fun. Posted: 05/02/05 - Scheduled our recording date for the end of June! We'll be recording at the reknown Ironwood Studios. Pretty cool. I found out that so many great artists have recorded here. Emmylou Harris, Posies, the Walkabouts, Wayne Horowitz with Bill Frisell, etc... Very exciting. Check out the studio: Ironwood Studios Posted: 03/04/05 - Scheduling photo shoots now. I'll post the new photos once we have the shots back. Just need to complete a couple more songs and we'll be booking time in the studio for the second album. I'll be recording more studio work for my friend Marco's band tomorrow. Just keys/synth stuff. Over at Hanzsek Audio. Posted: 11/27/04 - Two more shows booked back to back for us. The show on Nov 29th is a special one. The theme of the night is swing so we had to learn a few swing songs from the 30's and 40's. With only 1 week to get them down too! I'm a little nervous doing these swing songs too without a brass section. I'm afraid the songs are going to sound a little weak but the owner of the club knows us and what we sound like and he said that we would be fine. OK, we'll see. Even called me a crooner ;-) Then the Dec 29th show just fell into my lap after talking the Mike of Music Werks. That one is opening for Faith & the Muse. I know I've been talking about stepping away from the Goth scene and not doing too many more "goth" shows, but I am figuring that Faith & the Muse is going to have a huge draw the exposure itself will be worth while. I just can't pass up a free show like this one. Posted: 11/12/04 - Such a long time since I last wrote anything. We've booked a Christmas show with our good friends Euclid and John Massoni (of Weather Theatre and Maxine). I've also been busy in writing new material. I've had the idea to try to record two albums of material the next time in the Studio with the hopeful outcome of getting both albums with a similar sound. I was trying to get into the studio before the end of the year but due to $$$ it looks as if it might be early next year now. :-( Oh well. It will take me that long to come up with another 1/2 dozen new songs anyway. Posted: 08/13/04 - It's friday the 13th...ooohhhh... Anyway, we've gotten a few more international reviews, and I think they are pretty good. I can't read them very well though. I've posted them however in the hopes that someone will help me translate them. I've also been doing some promo pushes for airplay and such. Seems to be paying off. I receive many DJ playlists via email, and I keep seeing my name up there. That's always a good sign. I've been spending most of my time this last month though trying to close down one of my other bands, Shadow Light. We are putting our last show on and then calling it quits after 11 years! Once all the busy-ness of that is done, then I can concentrate on booking more shows for this band. Right now however, it is just one step at a time. Posted: 07/12/04 - We're getting a lot of international reviews but unfortunately I'm not able to translate them. I have a German and an Italian review on the site that Bablefish partially translates but doesn't do a "good" job. If anyone reads my posts and can translate either the German or the Italian reviews, please oh please send them to me. I would be very grateful. I'm also very much working on getting some gigs going now. The newest members to the band are up and running and I'd very much like to start playing out again. Keep checking out the Events page for upcoming shows.
Posted: 05/23/04 - Well, quite a bit has happened since last I posted. 1. After many conversations
with friends about the differences between ASCAP and BMI, I decided to become a songwriter affiliated
through BMI. I suppose the next step is to start a publishing co. or find someone with one all ready. Posted: 01/24/04 - Just want to announce that our CD's are being distributed now through both Metropolis and Projekt distribution sites. Everyone should be able to buy the cd's online with their credit/debit cards. Yay! Posted: 011/08/03 - Just got our first official review in for our new album. Yay! They liked us! Of course I have the whole thing on the articles section of this site. Quote: "Musically, Johnny Forlorn conjures up a bit of Nick Cave crossed with some long-forgotten sea shanty veteran." Well, I don't think that I could have gotten a better review. The CD release party is now being finalized. Trying to have it happen at a new club here in Seattle. Let you all know when it happens. However, we did just book a show with our friend, Willow, at her new goth night at a place called "the Hall" which I've never been too. I'm so very excited about all the latest happenings. Posted: 010/08/03 - Official website launch. Yay! It's finally up. I know that it still has some major work left to be done on it, but at least there is something to look at. :-) Posted: 010/04/03 - Well the CD is almost out. We are trying to secure a date right now for our CD release party. We have a couple of possibilities here in Seattle. I'll definitely post the dates though when everything is finalized. SO far, what DJ's and zines who have gotten it, the response has been great. Everyone seems to love the new direction and can't talk enough about the packaging. I still give big kudos to our photographers Skepticle and Codey. Thanks again you two.
